How do I check to see wjich version of LAME is being used?

This may be a stupid question, but I can't find an answer anywhere.
I wish to check to see which version of lame I have been using.  I am using MC 11.1.201.  Does this guarantee the latest version of lame?  When I check the plug-in manager it just states MP3 Encoder, Version 2.0.80 - what does this mean?  I also checked the lame.exe file properties under C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 11\Plugins, but this does not state the version either.  Should I just download the latest version of lame.exe and replace the other?  I hate to do this without knowing for sure what version I have been using...

You can check the lame.exe file version by running it in a command prompt.

MC11.1 and MC 12 use the version 3.97 beta 2. I am expecting this to be updated to the 3.97 release version. However, the difference between the versions is minimal.
