When i play a video , i see a lot of icones in toolbar - From filters-codecs-DVX ect - Some are there 4 or 5 times.
Only to hove the mouse on a file name opens some .
Is this normal ?
I had a look at video settings but it is by far beyond what my brains can understand

This is normal.  MC is building thumbnails for the videos in your library.  If it's running slowly, you can "pre-build" the thumbs by going to Tools --> Options --> Tree & View --> Thumbnails --> Build Missing Thumbnails.  If you have a bunch of videos this might take a long time so I'd suggest you run it overnight.

If you have issues with stability, some suggestions I'd make:

1. Consider getting rid of RealOne and replacing it with Real Alternative to handle your realmedia files.  RealOne is a bloated POS.

2. I'm assuming that the K-Lite codec pack you're using is their "minimal pack" install.  If not, and you're using the "full pack" then you are very likely to have filter conflict issues.  Their full pack is ridiculous and installs a bunch of conflicting (and absolutely unnecessary) things.  If you're having any issues with playback, I'd suggest you switch to CCCP or at the very least the latest "regular" K-Lite (I think it's called Standard). Preferably CCCP but that's up to you.

EDIT: I should mention -- there's nothing at all wrong with the current K-Lite Basic or Standard codec pack.  It's a matter of personal preference really.  CCCP doesn't come with quite as much as K-Lite standard, but (I find) is a bit more stable.  I also don't know why they bother to install DivX and XviD, since they aren't needed except for media creation (which most people don't do).

Concerning Real, it is a ok prog by now with all the s.. behind them
But harder to win a new good image than to get a very bad one [totaly justified at the time ]
Anyway , it is planned to remove Real and install RealAlternative as soon as i'am set with MC
In fact i love VLC cause it install his codecs in his folder not messing around all your computer
And it will be SO cool to have MC doing the same .
But there is no Library in VLC, there is in Real
I wanted to install Standart K-Lite but i saw than none of what i think i need to play a DVD was here - Cyberlink something

So, i installed the Full
Not changing most of the pre-settings  cause i did not know about all of it .

But i did use my uninstaller prog when installing it.

Means i hope i can remove it 'clean'

But it is such a jungle all this video thing - Imagine the same, years ago at the start of the compressed music ..if not a leading format as MP3, i'am not sure people will have drives full of music today.....
I do have quite a lot of movies , so will run it overnight or at day when not here.

I have each movie in a folder with a Text File  with all infos and a pic of the DVD sleeve- Can MC use it to built thumbnails ? I need to tag the pic same as the filename ?

CCCP comes with everything you need for DVD playback out of the box.  It also can handle all MPEG-4 ASP and MPEG-4 AVC (aka XviD/DivX and H.264) playback, including multi-track audio and subtitles, AC3 audio, and lots of other stuff.  It was originally designed for use by the anime "scene", but has now evolved into the official MKV playback set.

There are things it doesn't handle out of the box, of course.  It doesn't come with XviD or DivX, so if you want to encode (read: create) to one of those codecs, you'll want to grab them separately.  It also doesn't come with a FLV decoder (flash video) or with Real Alternative or Quicktime Alternative.  All of these are compatible with it though, and can be easily installed separately.

Do you know if it's possible to use CCCP and MediaCenter 12 in the following way (maybe it's not a function of CCCP):

Have the MPV decoder decode the DVD, but have ffdShow postprocess the video before rendering?

I have it working fine using the CCCP settings with MPC and following the steps from the ffdshow AVS thread, but it appears that this is not possible in Media Center because MC does not allow us to add an external filter to the graph.

I don't think so.  Yaobing might be able to comment more extensively, but I believe this isn't currently possible with MC's DirectShow interface.

For DVD, you can only choose one video decoder and one audio decoder. No other filters can be selected.
