can't help with the quest I'm afraid, but, for me, it is truly fascinating to see how far the program has evolved over the years.

I was messing around with MC versions 9.0 and 9.1 a few weeks ago, which was... interesting :)

JRiver's Nikolay posted this image of MJ v1.0.352 a few years ago...

suggesting that there may well be a complete set of install programs deep in the JRiver archives...

and I found this screenie of v5.0.601 (601!!! man, that must have been one helluva beta cycle!!)

(click on the image to view the originating page, which also has a screenie of the 'about' dialogue)

I should have been searching long ago to add to a history archive.

I Have Some Reviews That State That The Program Was Made by Media Exchange, And Not J River. I Was Wondering Was JRiver Not There First Company Name.

We know how and where they made the hawsers for the best ships, that crossed the seas a few hundred or thousand years ago, but we do not know the name of the company which starts to make the best Multimedia-Player Software a few years ago . Strange, eh?

This is more Jim's area, but: JRiver used to be James River Group. We changed our name (right about the time I joined the company) because of the James River Paper company, who changed theirs at about the same time.

I don't remember Media Exchange, but the project used to be under the umbrella of Music Exchange (www.musicex.com). Music Exchange was a direct descendent of Software Exchange, a project that did not make it to the public eye.

Jim wrote a small book covering the 25 years of our history, a fascinating read, especially the parts I wasn't there for. Very cool...

Where can one get the book or a copy of the book?
