This thread http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=43975.0 looks like is significant move toward compatibilty with the same sorts of photo tags that Vista uses.

Yes and for the nested keywords it works ok according the first test I just did.

Vista also supports keywords for videos with windows live photo gallery. I am not sure how they are stored. The Vista team has stated that they want tags as much as possible stored in the files. If the keywords are in the video files themselves, it would be great if mc could write them also.
