DVD Ripping and Playing DVD Images
« on: February 17, 2007, 10:56:39 pm »

Since DVD ripping is actively discussed (in other thread), I'd like to bring back subject that I wrote about while back.
Is it possible to make MC play DVD images as regular DVDs?

This way, instead of getting DVD from the shelf and putting it in the drive, one could make ISO image of it and store it
on harddrive. $150 500G harddrive would store about 60 DVD images. I think it would be pretty cool.

Any thoughts?

Yes it is possible.

I wrote a wiki page as to how to do this giving detailed instructions.

Thanks, Osho, for the reply. Good wiki page too.
I'll try it.
Although, would it be that big deal for JRiver, to just make support of ISO images without using additional third party software?
It would probably be much nicer.

It has been asked before. But it hasn't happenned yet. I would be happy with just cover art support for ISO - lack of which is really annoying right now.
