Vista Power Saving
« on: March 05, 2007, 04:00:54 pm »

Vista's power saving stuff doesn't seem to acknowledge that
MC is busy playing videos.
It just turned my screen off mid way through a DivX file.

I'm getting quite close to finding an XP disk for this machine already!

It's probably the UAC monster.  A program without admin priveleges may not be able to disable the power saving features.

You could right-click, Run as Administrator on MC to test.

We'll look on our end as well.

I've had really bad luck with Vista's power savings.  It bombs on S3 standby for me, even though XP worked great on the same hardware.  I fought with it a lot, and then finally gave up.

I encounter exactly the same problem (screen turning black during playback) but UAC is disabled, so privileges are probably not the problem.

In build 187, we'll add this:
Changed: Screen saver (and monitor power down) while in fullscreen playback are disabled two ways to better cope with Vista's UAC.

Hopefully that build (or a newer one) will be public later this week.

Thanks.
