Author Topic: Shuffle acting strangely in Smartlist (exclude where genre = somegenre)  (Read 1712 times)

I've noticed an change in the way one of my smartlists behaves in shuffle-play mode. When I first fire up MC and go to my smartlist (I created a smartlist that excludes the genre "Christmas") and start to play it, it always defaults to the first song, then plays in order. If I then de-select shuffle mode and re-select it, then it plays "random" songs in the list.

This behavior changed sometime recently, but I don't know when. I am not experiencing this with any of the pre-set smartlists, btw.

Also, I must be blind but I can't seem to figure out how to edit an existing Smartlist now. It seems to me like MC used to display the filter settings above the song list when I clicked on the smartlist in the tree.

Thanks for any help!

I think there is a new smartlist editor, but I too, have no idea how to access it.

I want to make a Missing Cover Art list for albums not tracks like the default.

To edit an existing smartlist. Click on that smartlist in the tree. Above the song list are 3 buttons "Play", "Refresh", and "Edit". Click "Edit" to edit in the smartlist wizard. I think your question highlights a possible improvement which I think has been mentioned elsewhere. It would be nice to have a right-click "Edit" function for a smartlist.

Thanks xlrisk. Was beginning to think I brought up a taboo subject or something. I feel kinda stupid now, though, since those buttons are right in front of my face, but I don't think that's a very intuitive placement for the smartlist management buttons.

I still cannot figure out why the shuffle is not working for me, though. Every time I play my smartlist, it restarts at the same place and continues sequentially down the list - even though I have shuffle-play enabled. If I de-select shuffle and re-select it, then the songs play in a "random" order as I would expect. This behavior was not a problem in MC 11 - I'm using the same smartlist. The smartlist is very simple - just one rule that excludes genre = "Christmas" - so I don't really know where to begin to troubeshoot. I've tried deleting and re-creating the list, but no change.

I tested against the "built-in" smartlists (i.e. Not Recently Played) and they don't seem to suffer the problem.
