The default "[ymd] [title]" naming for downloaded podcast filename results in VERY long filenames for some podcasts.  I'd therefore like to have my downloaded podcasts retain their original filenames as they are in the "Episode URLs."  Unfortunately, I can't seem to figure out how to do this.  I tried [Filename (name)] and [Episode], but neither of these work.

Is there a way to set the default podcast naming rules so that the downloaded podcast retains the original filename?

along with another request to make this default and to leave the other tags alone (by default) unless we intentionally override them.

Thanks -- that did the trick.  I thought "[name]" would give me what it turns out the "[title}" actually does (I think of "name" as referring to a tag and not a "filename.")

Oops -- I spoke too soon.  This works on some podcasts, but not on most of the ones I tried.  With most podcasts, I end up with a totally different name.  I'm wondering if using [name] for the filename only works if there is nothing entered in a "name" field for the podcast.  In other words, is it possible that the process will use the original filename as long as a "name" field is blank, but if there is something entered here, it uses that instead?

All I can say is that using [name] for the filename, less than half of the podcasts I downloaded actually ended up USING the original filename for the downloaded filename.

Can you give an example from that podacast where you did not get the filename you expected?  I just pulled one down from there and the filename matched the enclosure file name (except it replaced the '_'s with spaces).

The ones that did not give me the same name as the original filename were Episodes 2 thru 5, 14 thru 23, 26, and 27.  The rest did as you said, giving me the same names but with spaces instead of underscores.  All in all, 12 of them used the original filename, while 16 of them did not.

The original file name is '20060805-2_Lightroom_Enhanced-Podcast.m4a', but the file came down with the title as the file name 'Adobe Lightroom Enhanced-Podcast #14_ Martin Sundberg.m4a'

So I guess the question on how do we get podcasts to keep their original filename when downloading is still open.  Look like [name] doesn't always work, and even when it does it still is changing some characters (like "_" replaced with " ").
