Any way to estimate size in transcoding?
« on: April 07, 2007, 11:53:27 pm »

Let me explain: I like the idea that you can build a smartlist for a device, and you can get a random selection from your collection, however you define it.  Problem is, I store files in FLAC and transcode to MP3 for my device.  My current workaround is to do an estimate of what in FLAC will fit on the device after transcoding, but that is far from perfect.  Is there a more elegant solution to my problem?

Yeah ... let's say you are going to ~200kbps that would be 1,5MB per minute.

The calculation would be (kbps / 8) * 60 = kilobytes per minute.

I thought MC12 would do the math and show you more or less correct numbers when you send files to your device?
