Support for Windows Media Connect?
« on: April 08, 2007, 01:39:52 pm »

I didn't see this in the MC12 FAQ. My networkable Yamaha A/V receiver can connect to my PC (via ethernet) using Windows Media Connect, technology I've learned that's built-in to Windows Media Player 11. Does MC12 support this?

I don't think so (but I may be wrong). I do know that most networkable receivers (like my Denon 4306) supports both Windows Media Connect and UPNP. Look for UPNP support on your Yamaha and your in.

That would be neat if my Yamaha 7.1 receiver supported a network interface but it's a year or two old and that wasn't as common back then.

Forget Windows Connect junk.  Why doesn't Yamaha talk to J River and add direct support and work with J River.  Like I have said many times in the past.  People who are interested in high quality music are interested in Media Center.  They go well together.  Unfortunately, the big execs at companies like that are ignorant and not willing to spend time searching out other companies to work with.  They only go for the huge corporations that everyone knows when they don't realize that they are inherently aiming for somewhat of a niche market, that of which spends extra for better sound quality.
