Merging MP3's (Audio Book Files)
« on: April 09, 2007, 07:16:17 pm »

Is There A Way To Murge Lets Say 900 Small MP3 Files Into One Large MP3?

If MC Can Do It Tell Me How, If Not What Can I Use?

I don't know if MC can do it, but you can look at http://www.ezsoftmagic.com/mp3splitter_joiner.htm. It's what I currently use and does a fine job. But it isn't free.

http://www.makeitone.net/ is a donationware alternative but it had issues in the past joining low bit rate files, like I suspect audio books may be. There's an option to delete the source files when "packing" so I imagine if you leave this unselected you should be fine experimenting.

I'd check integrity of resultant mp3 file after join, there should not be any sync errors present, this assumes the sources themselves are also sync error free.

You can also merge mp3s to mka using mkvmergegui. If you don't want to use the matroska container you can then extract back to mp3 again (output file is the merged mp3). I don't know how easily you get sync errors  so use with caution and test your files before doing anything
serious.

I tried to merge and extract once and it worked fine.

I Found A Program MP3 Splitter And Joiner ($19.98) Pro ($29.98)

You Can Set It To Join The MP3's Without Decoding and Re-Encoding if they are of the same encoding, or it will Re-Encode the mp3 per your settings.

seems to work faster than MediaJoin (Free)

It would however be nice if JRiver Would Include These Functions In The Polished Swiss Knife
