Creating a shortcut/button

Is it possible to create a shortcut/button on the tool bar (or better yet as a column) that would allow a user to place a music track in the playing now playlist or to play immediately? I don't like using theatre mode and I'm looking to make the main mode as touchscreen as friendly (for me that means the least number of times I need use right-click)
