Album by Queensryche, Q2K is making the ipod reset on eject
« on: April 24, 2007, 03:04:31 pm »

Oke, an album by Queensryche, Q2K is making the ipod reset on eject. It won't boot correctly until I put it in disk mode and remove those files. Every track/file from that album cause that to happen.

I rechecked the offending album with mp3utility. No errors. I played the songs, no artifacts. Tags look normal to me, with a few unicode characters but nothing special. Here is the first track.

I would really like to know what is wrong with the file. I ripped it myself, it's not a download. Is it possible someone has a look at it?

it had to do with the tags. Not sure which one but I reset the tags and tested the files and now they work again.

Are you SURE than none of the tag got

Queensr˙che

the right way to write it by the way.
instead of

Queensryche

Edit

Look like yes

Field Name="Comment">Queensr?che</Field>
Field Name="Composer">Queensr?che</Field>

the ? is here cause letter is  ˙

Tag one file with this :

Blue Öyster Cult

Thx but unfortunately that's not it. The ? does mean the ˙ but the playlist I exported to does not use unicode characters. I use unicode for more artists and it has never been a problem.

Not all my queensryche albums have the ˙ in them, most just y. I just checked and the ipod display neatly displays the ˙ for albums that do.

I do remember that the Q2K album had trouble importing in my Pinnacle showcenter application. It wouldn't update the tags either, just the database fields but that was a long time ago I guess I forgot about it.

Wild guess department...

I haven't thoroughly read your thread but if there is a network drive involved, there is (or was?) a bug in Samba which produced similar problems with unicode characters.
