After upgrading to 12.0.222, Library Server no longer works for me. in 12.0.198, I start Library Server and I see the following:

In 12.0.198, I can start and stop it at will. After installing 12.0.222, I see this:

If I try to stop it, it crashes. The crash says:

AppName: media center 12.exe    AppVer: 12.0.222.0    ModName: server_library.dll
ModVer: 1.0.34.1    Offset: 00002c83

I tried using a custom port number in build 222 but it says it can't start it on that port. After rolling back to 12.0.198, Library Server runs fine and I can connect from another machine.

Something strange is going on. There've been no changes since 198 that would cause this.

I did find one small problem which might explain the crash.

Try several different ports, not just 222.

Is there anything else different about the two installations? Different user? Different install location?

I have both installers and simply ran them in express mode to toggle between them. No changes were made and they both install to the same location and I never log out, so I'm using the same Windows XP username.

I did try several manual ports. 2827 is my port of choice, though I tried several others around that range. Any port I enter says that it failed to start. That's why I tried the "Auto Port Selection" and found it strange that it tried all ports between 80 and 90 before settling in with port 90. However, port 90 doesn't actually work for me.

BTW, I'm using build 222 (12.0.222), not port 222. I'll be happy to try anything you'd like in order to resolve this issue.

Before starting Media Center, do a start->run with command "cmd", and do a netstat -an. Look to make sure your port is not already in use.

I'm really confused - the code hasn't changed, and there is no reason for it to work with one but not the other.

Sorry I had not replied but I was unavailable. I saw that the release notes for 12.0.225 had this item:

Fixed: The Library Server would not correctly recognize that it was not running after cycling through 10 TCP ports and failing.

I just loaded up 12.0.226 and all is well. Whatever the problem was, I can confirm that it is now fixed.

Hello,
i've got a similar problem with 12.0.226 version.My library server is detected but i can't connect to it.
Before 12.0.226 instal, library working good.
I've tried to reinstal older version but the problem not disappear.
