Canon EOS-1D Mark III CR2 files not playing properly
« on: May 27, 2007, 01:58:56 pm »

I get a BLUE image, as if its only playing the "cyan" portion of a file when I play .CR2 files from the new Canon EOS-1D Mark III.

I am copying files from my CF card to my PC and playing them through MC.

I've never had a problem with CRW or DNG files, but the new Mark III files, which are CR2 format (supposedly) do not want to play properly.

To give you one to look at (12.5MB), I've posted a junker here http://www.drosoph.com/images/MCTestFile.cr2

Thanks

Let me know if you get the same beautiful BLUE pic that I do ... all 300-400 files are doing that in MC.
I would say it's safe to say that Canon went the same route as always, and although calling the file a CR2 file, they used a new proprietary format .. which is why ADOBE's RAW convertor can't even handle these babies!  But you guys are better than Adobe, so I figured I'd give it a try!

Are we talking the 1D MkIII?  If so I haven't updated DCRaw in a while so it probably isn't supported yet.

It is indeed a 1D MkIII file.  MC renders it blue.  Photoshop CS3 completely chokes on it.  (Is there a ACR update for it?)  I'll look to update DCRaw next week.

Photoshop RAW update isnt expected for a couple weeks ... Glad they are on top of it ... knowing them, it will be a month or two before a WORKING convertor works!

Should have an update that addresses this shortly.

Edit: The DCRaw changes (I just add an option to output some information in a nice block.) are available.
