Auto Import noobish question
« on: June 12, 2007, 11:07:47 pm »

Hello,
Being paranoidal, I never used the auto import option since it was introduced..

Can someone please tell me if Otto can be put on semi-automatic?
If its' fully automatic, then why there's an option "Run Auto Import Now"?

I would like to define my auto-import folders but have Otto only run on demand.
Is this possible?

Thanks!

Yes, it's possible.
Set your auto-import folder choices, then click where it says 'Options' to see some further choices.

You'll definately want to uncheck "Run auto-import in the background", and most probably, you will want to uncheck "Update for external changes" too.

So that you're clear, the "Update for external changes" option applies to your entire library, not just the specified 'watched' folders, right Alex? ;)

Once you've finished setting things up, you can initiate an import via the "run auto import now" option

Marko,
Thanks!
So, this "Run auto-import in the background" option makes Otto really Auto?
I thought it was for switching between importing in background/foreground.. but actually suspected that this was exactly what I needed..
a bit ambiguous naming and description in wiki.. imo
