new computer licensing woes
« on: June 21, 2007, 02:23:43 pm »

i have trashed my old laptop which i had installed my original MC12 on and am now using a desktop I bought off ebay.  the problem is my new desktop keeps considering my MC license like a trial license and counting the days i have left.  how do i transfer the license over to the new desktop properly?  i just hope i won't need my old laptop to do this because it is already at the dump.

That's in the FAQ:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=10029.0

You just need to restore your old license from our server.

i tried that already and that is what confuses me the most... for some reason it still thinks the license is temporary.  maybe i did it wrong?

Did you use your Registration Code to restore?

When you do that an Install Key is e-mailed to you, but it is only good for 14 days.

right, i got the key
Can you be more specific about "the key".   How did you get it?   When?

Do not post your license.

well i got this new computer about 2 weeks ago so it was probably sometime around then...  i bought the program some time ago, maybe 6 months or so.

my name is Daryl Fortney and if it helps i think i used the email jriver@groovydomain.com to register, but it might also have been jriver@troyhotspot.com. i have 2 mail servers here and i forget which one i used at the time.

That's really odd... When you do the restore process, you may want to quickly refer to the very detailed walkthrough I posted on the Wiki here: http://wiki.jrmediacenter.com/index.php/Restoring_Media_Center

Also... Since the registration data is stored (at least somewhat) in the Windows Registry, be sure you don't have any "registry protector" processes running on the system.
