Steve Ballmer: My 85-year old uncle will want a Zune
« on: July 22, 2007, 10:23:32 pm »

I saw this Steve Ballmer quote in an interview:

"But it's not like we're at the end of the line of innovation that's going to come in the way people listen to music, watch videos, etc. I'll bet our ads will be less edgy. But my 85-year-old uncle probably will never own an iPod, and I hope we'll get him to own a Zune."

It must be the new special-edition Halo Zune that his 85-year-old uncle is eyeing.

Best of luck to him with that.

I think they forget sometimes... The reason IE won over Netscape, is that at the crucial moment, IE was the better product.  Marketing is easy when you have the better product.

Of course... it is their 1.0 try, so give it time.  I make it a policy not to bet against Microsoft.  They aren't the same young company run by a smart hothead that went toe-to-toe with IBM, Netscape, and Lotus 123 anymore though...

My memory could be rusty but wasn't IE free when you had to buy Netscape?? I think that was the period of greatest growth for IE.

So Microsoft has only to give away Zunes in order to crush iPod?  ;D

I've been going to lots of auto shops lately looking for little extras and I noticed some "upgraded" stereos at Auto Zone.  Funny how their top of the line there was under $200--obviously not amazing.  But it said iPod, and I thought, WOW!  That's good for only $200!  And I saw something else...lol, it was a picture of a Zune!  That was a funny moment...as if someone would walk in saying, I need a car stereo to work with my ZUNE!  Yea!
