Locking content for playback
« on: July 12, 2007, 08:18:06 am »

hi,

Is it possible to lock certain content for playing (parental control) ?
For example if I have a horror film in my movie collection I don't want my kids be able to play those files (without lets say.... a password).
I still want all the items in my library since I don't want to be switching between libraries "all the time". And if I just let those films "lay around" in the file system, I will forget I own them and will never watch them again :P
Is there something like this in the J River Media Center ?

thanks

I know this is not exactly what you wanted, since once access control is enabled it completely hides the files, but it's the only way I know.

To hide files:
* View->Access Control...
* Enter a password
* Modify the filter to hide the files you want
* Enable access control.
* Click OK

To show the files again:
* View->Access Control...
* Enter the password
* Disable access control
* Click OK
