Video Stuttering
« on: April 05, 2008, 04:53:00 am »

Just when I thought i'd got this thing set up just right
Now video playback stutters!
Not too much but just enough to be very annoying.

Ive gone back to media player for now which works fine.
But I really want to go back to playing videos through theatre view

After getting rid of itunes this was the 2nd major reason for the switch to MC

Please give me an idea of where to start looking

I think that MC uses the same filters as WMP, which is working absolutely fine.

Alos apparently MC can't determine which version of media player I am using. i am using wmp11 and have tried re-installing it.
still got problems

There are some video stuttering problems in the link called "Weird Problems" in my signature.

A virus checker is one possibility.

Any idea why MC keeps telling me it can't find WMP.

Try updating to the latest build from the top of the MC12 board.

Are you running Win2000?

That's a problem.  I'm not sure it's our problem.  It could be.

Virus checker?

I am certain it is not a virus checker problem

I think the problem has only started since installing the CCCP today as I was mucking around in order to analyse AAC files.

I would post a screen print of the message if i could.

it pops up and says
"
Media Player Warning
Cannot determine the version of Microsoft Windows Media Player
Windows Media Player 7 or above must be installed to play the file you have selected
Do you want to download and install the latest version .....
"

I have reinstalled media player 11 (it works fine)
I have reinstalled MC
I have uninstalled CCCP
I have reinstalled CCCP
No luck so far

I can only assume that when MC is set to use Window Media Player engine
Somewhere in the process of accessing WMP something is going pear shaped

I'm not sure that's our error message.

What happens if you tell MC NOT to use WMP for playback?  Tools/Options/Playback/Video/DirectShow, upper left corner.

Why are you sure it's not a virus checker?  Did you try uninstalling (to test)?  A lot of virus checkers are set to check every file every time it's opened and that can cause this kind of problem.

After a computer reset,  it now decides to work.

One of those window bugs i guess.

I am thinking of doing a complete rebuild. There seems to be a heap of clutter going on.
There stills seems to be some itunes crap left over.

The tunes will retain all the analysis info in their tags will they not? Would hate to have run the whole thing again after rebuild

The library files will retain the data. Backup your library and later restore from the backup.
