hmm...amarok is famous cos its the *only*
media library client side app on *nix. It's still yrs behind MC if you went head to head in terms of performance & usability/features. Of course there are plenty of other players/jukeboxes that are acessable via a web browser in *nix land, but i think all this kind of interaction is best handled by non browser exclusive type apps, especially when we are talking about *large* datasets being displayed. The 'large' bit is where MC shines.
Personally i'm not so interested in such a display unless its user-configurable, in Amarok's case that might be the case of changing a HTML template. I'm not so sure the same will be the case with MC, if it chose this path, though i would be interested for it to be. The reason is M$'s IE would be the choice in terms of ease of devlopment for browsing. I think you know how good IE is.. already
, why tie MC to the latest, never ending stream of security updates from M$.
The other more secure browsers are not as easy to embed for this type of purpose.
