There is another way to set the background colour for the ViewHeader behind Inactive Tabs and that's by adding an InactiveHeaderBackground="nnnnnn" (where nnnnnn is the hex code for the required color) instruction to the <VIEWHEADER> <Colors> Statement.

thank you very much.
changing the text colour in the viewheaders helped, but there was some shade of gray left on the inactive header. this InactiveHeaderBackground just nailed it

YW gab - I came across that "InactiveHeaderBackground" instruction and a few more useful instructions while working on a project that has the ultimate aim of collecting all available instructions  in the various parts/section of a skins main.xml along with the existing Tutorial, SDK and Drawing Images Info together into a Single MC Standard View Skinning Guide

gab - you can definitely say that again  ;D

To get an idea of just some of the work involved open the Main.xml file for any of the "MC Stock-Skins" in you favourite text-editor.
