is there a way to make a backup from the library using automation? i tryed it using shell execute with an mcc command, but that gives me a form asking where i want it, and that it is ready. i would like to make something to do it silently and to place i can specify in the script, before i perform some other tasks.

Youknow, you've raised an issue I feel hasn't received nearly enough attention in the past. There really needs to be a way to call MCC commands silently. I have numerous automation requirements like yours (eg: Auto Import (23020) and Export All Playlists (20004)) which both require some form of user interaction. I wish I could just pass these functions the required input via the command line and thus supressing the need for all user required input - including (and in the case of these functions) confirmation messages.

You can't even make backup silently from the command prompt?

I had a dream of installing everything perfectly and making an image of it.
In the case something would go wrong I could simply hit my System Heal VB script, who would do something like this:
- make a backup of my library, dvd profiler library and user data
- restart XP on my game partition and restore image to media partion
- restart to media partition, restore backup of MC, DVD profiler and user data

Are you saying this would require at least two comfirmations?
Why make anything available trough command line if it requires comfirmation?

I hope it can be fixed within the next 3 months as I plan to automate my system by that time. It's got to be simple to remove.
Maybe you could even add a swithc to turn off user promt? But I do not understand why you need user confirmation when doing anything from command prompt....
