Tab behavior in 12.0.400
« on: December 21, 2007, 05:54:52 pm »

Moving between columns with TAB in the grid after F2 (edit mode) causes all of the selected files tags (in that column) to be replaced as in first file even if nothing has been changed. Tags should be changed only if I edit the first one or confirm column with enter not when only tab key is pressed. This was functioning well earlier before those changes made in tab behavior logic.

Make sure you're using 12.0.400.  That was a bug that should be fixed in 400.

At least about box says so. Maybe someone else can confirm? Perhaps my install wasn't
complete or something...

However I can confirm that Undo is working well  ;D

I believe I was mistaken.  I think that what you reported is the original behavior.  When Matt made a change to "fix" it, there was an outcry, and we changed it back.

Change back was great news. However it doesn't work now as it did before "the fix". My original post explains the problem now.

example:
1. If I select files and press F2 then TAB.
2. no tag changes

example2:
1. If I select files and press F2 then ENTER.
2. active columns all tags should be as in the first file

example3
1. If I select files and press F2, edit first tag, then press TAB
2. active columns all tags should be as in the first file

This was the behavior before "the fix". Now everything changes when "browsing" with tab

I was running 338.
In that version tabbing from column to column did not update anything unless you changed an entry.

When I import an album I then update year, genre and a few other columns and could tab across say the track column without the track numbers being affected.
That does not work now. If I tab across the track column the track numbers all become whatever is in the first row.

Yep, that's how it used to work and should work.  Hopefully, they'll get it completely fixed (restored) to previous behavior in a future release.

lepa and sbsp2 are correct. The behavior has changed for version .400. I was running .386 before I upgraded, and I am experiencing a different type of tab behavior than I am used to. lepa has already described how it is now and how it was before .400, so I won't bother doing it again  ;)
