ipod to pc
« on: September 03, 2007, 09:53:39 am »

I am running MC12 - just downloaded it  and 5G Ipod video.  My last computer crashed and I was only able to import about half of the songs loaded onto my 60GB Ipod.  How do I use MC to import the songs on my Ipod to my PC (based on my last back-up)?  I've tried to drag and drop and it doesn't appear to work.  Will able to use itunes to sync in the future or will I only be able to do it using MC?  I'd hate to loose the songs and books on my ipod.  Was this function disabled in MC 12?  Any suggestions?

Sync to ipod is generally a 1-way street.
Normally you manage your music library on the pc.
Then you determine what tracks get copied to the ipod via playlists and syncing.

If you need to get tracks off of an ipod and onto the pc, then there are other tools for that task.
check out ipodlounge.com's download section for ideas.

You also need to choose whether mc or itunes will manage your device.
they don't handle the database exactly the same, so switching between them will cause issues.

Most of us would completely uninstall itunes if apple hadn't gone and refused to distribute ipod firmware upgrades without it like they used to.
