tagging m4a files
« on: September 03, 2007, 01:36:40 pm »

When reimporting m4a files (after moving them), that i had tagged before and that always showed up the way i tagged them, they had their old tags (that they had when i got them) again. Ignoring the genres i had given them and showing the old ones again. If they show the old ones, it means that the 'genre' tag is saved inside the m4a file. What do I need to do to make my changes to those be stored inside them as well?

Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do. MC cannot write tags to files in MP4 containers (m4a, m4p, aac, and so on). It's becoming higher on some users priority lists, but there are complicated licensing issues involved, so I'm not holding my breath....

MC excels at moving files for you, and then you don't lose tag information.

Check out the Rename Files from Properties feature.

Ok, I shall have to let go of my oldfashioned ways!
