Adding websites to the news function in theater mode
« on: October 12, 2007, 05:13:57 pm »

I have looked for this on both google and this forum, but was unable to find anything conclusive.

How do I customize what I see in the News section?

It isn't possible to add other sites.  Maybe some day in the future.

You may be satisfied with just adding a web link.  I have this for lots of sites: our local weather station's radar and 7-day forecast, for example.  The only trick is that you want a small enough page so it doesn't scroll.  If there was any parsing of RSS feeds (don't think there is in IE 6), then it would make an RSS feed look reasonably nice and then you could read that.

That's quite alright, I do think this program is already well worth the money.

How do I go about adding an rss feed like you described, i am using ie 7 and also firefox and opera.

I have added programs [games]  to the theater function, i suppose that is where I add the rss link?

also, i have no experience with rss, all i've ever done was press the add rss button when i see it, but i dont know how to extract the address.  Thanks for the hlep so far, and if you can help me further that would be great.

When you are viewing an RSS feed in IE7, simply copy the address in the address bar at the top and then add a Web Site link to Theater view in the options pane.  Perhaps you would want to show people how it looks.  I don't use IE at all--but Media Center uses it.
