Cover art. How to change save location and update tags?
« on: October 14, 2007, 09:52:27 am »

80% of my library points to "inside file" and the rest points to Folder.jpg
How can I change everything to point to Folder.jpg?

I have deselected options like "Also store image in files tag's" and "Save image in file when possible".
Thought it would be simple enough to change the location with "Update library from tags" or "Update tag from library", but I was mistaken.

Would also like to know if there is ANY way to get images inside files to be moved or copied to Folder.jpg, as I have updated many of the files, and presume they was stored in the files.

There's probably a faster way to do this but I've only had to do it for a few files. First make sure you have the option specified "In the same folder as the file (as Folder.jpg)". I went into the tag action window and selected the Image. Select "Copy to Clipboard (first file)" from the menu and then "Remove Cover Art". That should get it out of the file. Then select "Paste from Clipboard" to get it stored as folder.jpg.

Now that you've gotten a reply to do it one for one file, somebody should be able to chime in since you don't want to do that for 80% of your library. Unless you have some unique cover art, you just might want to do the remove cover art and do a "Get From Internet" to get new cover art since I have seen the YADB cover art library getting better and better.

or maybe do a coverart>submit to internet first. when that is possible with internal coverart. always try 1 or 2 first.

Thanks for your suggestions. Didn't even think about the posibility of submitting the covers to YADB.

I managed to figure out the steps to move image location to folder.jpg before I read your replays. Removed cover art and then updated library from tags. I was REALLY scared when I did that with no possibilities of saving my internal cover art. But the result was not so devestating. Only a few album ended up with no cover art. And most probably some dusins of covers with worse resolution than before.
A shame there are noe automatic way of transferring internal cover art to folder.jpg....

I'll upload the cover art to YADB and use it for download next time. When speaking of YADB, how is the cover art stored anyway? Any ways to keep the best quality images on server, or does the last one uploaded allways overwrite the previous cover art? Or do it not upoad if cover art is found?

I believe the process is the larger size wins out. If you try uploading a smaller image than one there already, it won't get taken.

All my cover arts are 480 X 480 because I wanted a compromise between file size & quality to keep small mp3. 480 because it's double size of QVGA display used on portable player. That mean I cannot use YADB to import covert art nor uploading them since most of covert on the net is 500X500. The feature to select size on YADB would be a pertinent feature.

I don't get the big problem. Much better to have to big cover svans than to small. All you have to do is to make a auto batch job in photoshop and you'll have your images at 480 x 480. I used to save my covers inside the files as well, but have found that saving them as one singel file will prevent much confusion and troubles along the way. And the file size is no longer a problem.
