(extracted) DVD playback with library server
« on: November 14, 2007, 02:43:01 am »

Hello,

Yes I know, again the guy with extracted DVD's.

Is there some progress that extracted DVD's can be played in a future release?

I tried TwonkyMedia with my PS3 as a media server and it worked.
However it's not able to use subtitles and the database is missing, you can only pick folders.

So TwonkyMedia doesn't gonna do it for me.

I now copied my library to another computer and changed the paths to the files. This works well, but it cost me a lot of time to change the paths from the different HD's in the system. And I'll have to do it every time I have added more media.
I can choose to import the media from a local library but then I don't have the tags with it.
And still I have to update every computer every time.

I'm not technical but since TwonkyMedia is able to play the files through a media server I would expect that MC can do it too in the future using the same library.

Hello John,

I mean Library server with MC, with UPnP I only managed to see music files.
With Library Server I would have the whole program to assist me in choices, finding movies etc.

Regards,

Theo

No progress: did you see this page (in particular, the link pointing to using network shares to share the VOBs)?

Yes John I did see that some while ago, but since Twonky Media was able to show my VOB files through the PS3 I was hoping there would be development in this...

(As said TwonkyMedia cannot show subtitles and has no database with folder.jpg etc)

That leaves me with having a library on the other machines, unless someone comes up with a good idea. :'(
