Question: Auto-Copy File and organize files
« on: August 05, 2007, 05:28:06 pm »

i have just started using MC12 and i am very impressed. so impressed im actually considering leaving itunes behind. the only thing that is keeping me from doing this is iTunes can copy any file that is added to its library and add it to the folders, as well as automatically, organize the folders and song as the library fields are set. if this is implamented into MC12, this will definitely kill itunes from my computer.

Welcome to Interact.  Please take a look at the auto import features and at Tools/Library Tools/ Rename Files from Properties (it can move files if you check "directory" and set a rule.  Be careful with it.  Try a few files before doing many.

i think you miss understood my question. i know it auto imports the songs, but it leaves the file in its original place. and then if you want to organize it, you have to do it manually and tell the program to do it. with itunes, you import a song, it copies it to a directory of your choice, and then organizes the file into folders depending on things like artist and album. its just one swift thing that does like three things in one command that you have to actually have to do yourself in MC. yes it leaves the original file there, but i like that because then i know what songs have been imported and im not looking through an entire directory of 20k worth of songs for just a single song to make sure its in the directory.

So There is still no such option in MC12, am i rhight ? Well its a disappointment for me actually, because im using itunes only for that purpose. But i must admit that Mc is better then itunes in all aspects anyway. And i hope that this function will be in future  ::)
Does anybody know is there some plugin ? or maybe i can write it by myself if someone gets me a clue of how to do it =))

Correct.  It doesn't Auto-Organize (ala iTunes) but the Rename Files from Properties tool is much more powerful than what iTunes allows.  The other nice thing about it is that it doesn't create copies of your files everywhere (sucking up space) like iTunes does.
