Volume and mute controls

I can't seem to get the volume and mute control to work properly in 8.0, they respond to the hot keys command but there is no change in volume or muting.  I've already re-installed the drivers as the FAQ suggested, no difference.  Windows XP, Waveterminal U24 external USB soundcard.  Any ideas?  TIA

Play around with the Options -> Playback -> Advanced -> Device setting.  Restart MJ after each change, and see if any of them make the volume control kick in.

I've got the Abit UA-11 USB to S/PDIF sound module. I also get no response from the volume control in MJ, but then I don't from any other Window's programme either. I don't really mind, though, as you can level the volume with the Wave setting and then just use your amp.
