Very slow MP3 playback
« on: August 13, 2002, 10:44:20 pm »

Hi,

I notice, that some songs play like half the original speed if playing with MJ (not with WM).
It seems like this doesn't happen all the time, but always with the same songs. I can provide a MP3-file.

Thanks for any advice.

I have noticed a similar problem using version 8.0.336.  As soon as I select options using the pull-down menu to adjust MJ's settings, the music starts playing at a much slower speed than it should.  Everybody starts singing like that dude in the Crash Test Dummies, ha ha.  When I close the options window, the speed continues to play at the slow rate.  If I stop play and re-start it, the audio is played normally at the correct rate.

This only happens on one of my machines.  The other one has never shown this problem.  Since they have different sound cards, I assume this is some problem related to the audio drivers.  This did not happen at all in earlier versions of MJ and I have not changed any audio settings on either machine.

The slowdown here occurs for exact nameable files and not with a combination of handling them. So I think we have different problems.

I updated the audio driver just today.

More machine specs to look for commonalities between them? Does it only happen with MP3 files?

Machine:
P4 2200, 512 Ram, 200GB hd, GF4 etc...

It only happens with _very few_ MP3s. But always the same files.

Bump.

Is there anything I might try solving this? I already did raise the response slider and did a (complete) new install.

I really don't understand, why the plugins aren't shown. But I have noticed, that the plugins are not saved in the "plugins"-folder; MJ says everything went fine.
