Take a look at the EventGhost Plugin "WebServer" and perhaps the "example files for the Webserver plugin"
Thanks for your reply. I already know about that possibility, I use EventPhone by Melloware (http://melloware.com/products/eventphone/) for that purpose and also take control of other players like Spotify,...
I was just thinking of having only one interface (xpTouch) for volume control of my ampli when I use the Media Center (I prefer to keep the computer volume at the same level).
I guess it's harder than just tweaking some css file to call EventGhost?
Thanks.

You can control MC using xpTunes on the iPhone, and then listen to it using:

There are iPhone airfoil speakers available in the AppStore......

But I need a little more help for EventGhost. I tried to change the volume commands in the Playingfull.html in the xpTouch folder with no luck.
Could you explain what I need to do?

@TXgary & @Sheugel
thx for the feedback !

@Sheugel
You have to open/change the "xpTouch/index.html" file.

Just change "onclick="command('volup','5');" to "onclick=triggereventghost('volumeup');".
Of course EventGhost have to be started.
If you have problems, feel free to ask.

Thanks for the reply. I made the changes but it doesn't seem to work... I must be missing something.

The modified lines in the index.html look like this:
<a class="menubar" "triggereventghost('volumedown');" target="#_"><img src="images/playercontrol/substract.png">
<a class="menubar" "triggereventghost('volumeup');" target="#_"><img src="images/playercontrol/add.png">

(note that the final "" of the lines is created by the forum)

Am I supposed to see an event in the log of EventGhost?
Do I have to load a plugin?

Thanks,

Hi

Thanks for the update, the update to the genre behaviour and playing now behaviour are good.

Unfortunately, the 'add to playing now as next to play' is not working for me. As far as I can tell, the option in xptunes server has no effect.

The xgadget is pretty good too. I would like the option to have the same genre behaviour as in xptunes, maybe something for the future.

Am I right in saying that I'm supposed to see an event in the log of EventGhost after pressing the + or - buttons in the "playing area" of my iPod Touch?
No special plugins needs to be loaded?

My fault... again.
the right command is "triggerEventGhost" (watch the upper case).

so pls change to ->
Quote
onclick=triggerEventGhost('volumedown');

and yes your are right, you should see something like "Main.volumeup" in the log (left window) of EventGhost, if you use the - or + buttons (portrait mode).
To use this feature in landscape mode you have to change "PlayingFull.html" in the same way.

Sry again,
Markus

xptunes

Another song is playing ?

Having investigated further, I guess it works as you expected, but not as I expected :)
What I was originally requesting was for the tap of the track title to add the song as next to play in the playing now queue. The reason is that people unfamiliar with the interface regularly tap a song title, instead of tapping add. When they do this, the song they have tapped starts playing, and adds itself to the start of the playing now queue. Hence, when the song has finished, the playing now queue is repeated from the beginning - this can be annoying.
What I would prefer, is having the option, as in MC, of enabling 'double click: add song as next to play'. Obviously for xptunes it would be 'tap: add song as next to play'.

Alternatively, do nothing when a song is tapped.

When 'add song as next to play' is selected in xptunes, when you tap 'add' it adds the song as next to play. i guess this is what you intended.

Could you explain it a little more?
I would prefer the genre behaviour as seen in the xptouch skin. that is genre -> artist -> ablum -> track. Instead of genre -> track. But this is not a big deal, as generally the ipod will be used for selecting songs, rather than the xgadget.
 A nice feature might be to be able to expand xgadget to fullscreen to show what is playing.

Best regards,
Markus

A suggestion for next build: ability to sort the queue by artist or seq.
It's not easy to find specific tracks when the "Playing Now" tracklist is shuffled.

Messiahs,
Just started trying out xpTunes and so far it is fantastic! I love the Windows Gadget too, it is one of the nicest I've seen. I've been looking for a multi-room music interface I can use via PC, iPod Touch, iPhone, and soon an Android phone. I use XBMC as my main media player and EventGhost as the IR/Serial controller and plan to use MC for my multi-room music - I think xpTunes will be the lynch-pin to make MC usable for me.

I'd like to make a few feature requests I hope you will consider...

TrackInfo skin:
a) can you have the currently playing song in the list be highlighted? I know it is scrolling but it helps quickly identify it.
b) can you add some cell buffer to the bottom line of text? The frame is right on the bottom of the characters.

Optional Home screen & Macro buttons
- Since you added an EventGhost interface I think it would be great to take full advantage of it. There could be an optional Home screen with user defined buttons (e.g. defined in separate XML/INI) that would send EG commands, JRiver commands, and then switch you to the necessary xpTunes screen.

Example...
"Listen on Patio" button
triggers:
(1) EG - turn on patio amp
(2) EG - set volume on amp to 60
(3) EG - turn off other amps
(4) xpT - enable zone = 'Patio'
(5) xpT - Switch to Playlists screen

Please let me know if you think these are reasonable?

thanks again for the great app!

xpTunes is outstanding!

I am tweaking the HTML a little to use on a tablet PC so I can control MC with a nice elegant browser UI. This will come in handy especially at parties with party-goers who always seem to have an issue with the Theater view interface and remote control... Now they can just point and click using the tablet PC (or their own laptop!)

Anyways... my question: I needed to get past the 20-item limit in the eval version so I paid for a full version on the xpTunes website (clicking from within the XPTunes title page)... but have not received a code, link, or anything.... Did I go about this incorrectly?

Thanks!

Hi Sheugel,
i really love your idea, but unfortunately the MC API is limited.
I found no way to search the queue or do an order by artist (I already spent some hours yesterday).

@galahad1974
not at this time... only my "developer version" of xpTunes can browse pictures and video files. I think in some month's i will release this version to the public.

Should already possible (with small html-skills).
You only need a button with commands like:
Code: [Select]
onclick=triggerEventGhost('patioAmpOn');triggerEventGhost('setVolume60');triggerEventGhost('TurnOffOtherAmps'); setActiveZone('0');callUrl('queue.html');
I think you can use every html-Editor (like Phase5, Frontpage and so on) for the first steps.

Markus

Messiahs,
I'll work on a home page and post it once I'm finished.

Can you put in a user setting option to have it xpTunes with an alternative page? Maybe have the user specify a page name... this way they can set the page to the default (one that you created) or their own page. This would make it so when you come out with updates, we don't need to modify anything, it just works. Cool?

I think your wish is already possible.
Just create a new folder in "html" and copy your files there.
The first page should be named "index.html".

Thats all... the url to your page is:
http://yourIP:yourPort/foldername/index.html

easy, isn't it ;-)

Hi Markus,
What are the limitations of the Demo version?
I would gladly pay for the full version if it would've worked on my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.
Right now both included (demo) skins render too large on both the default Nokia browser and Opera Mobile. I noticed that there are several css files for xpTouch skin (Android, iPhone, etc) - what are they? how can they be switched?
Thanks a lot!

hi maxx,

the only limitation of the demo version is that most views are limites to show only 20 list items.

the several css files are loaded browser dependent, that means if you using an IPhone the iPhone.css is added to brower_switch.css, if you are using a "Android-Phone" the Android.css.

I can add the possibility "Nokia500.css", but the main problem is to tweak the css.
I only have these both devices, so it's hard to optimize the css to a third device.

If you post some pictures of xpTouch running on your Nokia, i can take a look.

Markus

I only have these both devices, so it's hard to optimize the css to a third device.

If you post some pictures of xpTouch running on your Nokia, i can take a look.

Hi Markus,
Actually, I found that the zoom was set to 140% in both browsers. xpTunes looks better now on my Nokia 5800. Still not perfect, unfortunately.
FYI: its screen is narrower but longer/higher then iPhone - 360x640. For this reason the screen doesn't get filled completely.

For native/built-in browser xpTunes picks up the iphone css. Looks nice but the browser, for some reason, not always shows all the graphics.
Some screenshots (mixed regular and fullscreen): http://pix01.com/5i@RJJD

For Opera almost everything looks right except the screen again is not filled up completely in the vertical direction and some list items look messed up. It also uses different icons/glyphs from iphone css.

Thanks for looking into this! Great piece of software.

hint: just encrease the vale "showmaxitems=10" in all html files (eg. "xpTouch/Artists.html") to '15' or more....

Pls let me know, if you have some questions.

Markus - thanks!
What about the missing graphics? Small album art in list views are always missing. Some buttons sometimes missing sometimes not - interestingly, this is for the built-in browser only. Opera shows all the graphics nicely.

Il'l look into html. I would rather increase the list item's height rather than their number, though.
How does xpTunes decide which css to use? What if it's not iPhone nor Android? What if it's a regular IE on a regular PC? Or Firefox?

Thanks,

Really don't know. Perhaps tweaking the css may help (but not sure). It's possible that the internal browser doesn't include all nesessary functions.

good idea :-)

by browsers user agent (something like a browser identifier)

Only the linked external style sheet (between <link> tag in html file) is loaded.
So, in case of xpTouch, only "browser_switch.css" is loaded.

I am not good with css at all.. : (
Couldn't figure out how do increase the height of the list items... Could you please point me in the right direction?

Also, still don't understand the "browser_switch" thing. You say "only "browser_switch.css" is loaded" but it looks different in different browsers. Looks like it adds more to browser_switch.css from android.css (or empty iphone.css), right? What if I use a different device/browser? Confused..  ? I can clearly see it looks different on different browsers..

thanks!

Hi Max,

every question is welcome.
I added a Nokia500.css. then it's much easier to tweak css file.

A css file discribe the style of one or more html elements.
The xpTunes html files mostly includes a body tag ('<body>'), group block-elements/division ('<div>') and some elements like lists (unorderd lists '<ul>') and list items ('<li>').

The <div> tag is often used to group block-elements to format them with styles. li elements are childs of unorderd lists.

perhaps this code help:
Code: [Select]
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3c.org/TR/1999/REC-html401-19991224/loose.dtd">
<html>
<head>
<title>xpTouch</title>
</head>
<style type="text/css">
*{
outline: none;
text-decoration: none;
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
list-style: none;
-webkit-touch-callout:none;
-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);
}
body {
    margin: 0;
    background: #FFFFFF;
    color: #000000;
    overflow-x: hidden;
    -webkit-user-select: none;
    -webkit-text-size-adjust: none;
-moz-user-select:-moz-none;
font: 16px Helvetica ,Geneva, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
outline: none;
background-color:yellow;
}
body > ul {
white-space:normal;
overflow: hidden;
height:403px;  /*change here to max available height-20px (580px ?) */
min-height:305px;
max-height:403px;  /*change here to same value like height */
}
background-color:blue;

body > ul > div > li,
body > ul > li,
body > div > ul > li{
    position:relative;
    margin: 0px;
    border-bottom: 1px solid #E0E0E0;
    padding: 9px 0 8px 10px;
    font-size: 16px; /*change here perhaps 22px*/
    font-weight: bold;
background-color:green;
}
</style>
<body orient="profile" id="main">
<ul class="list010" hidebackbutton="true" title="xpTunes" name="navlist" id="home">
<li>Playing</li>
<li>Queue</li>
<li>Playlists</li>
