remote server and media server problem

it says on the help here that i can set up a remote server in the options stuff. and then log on to http://computername:port number and i can listen to my music and what not.
i do what it says to do and this isnt happening.
what am i doing wrong?

It could be a firewall problem.

On the same PC, run IE, and enter the address:  localhost:[port]  where port is the number you use.  Does that work?  If not, remoteserver is not running.

It now says on media center that


 16:24:38 - Error sharing file, no file requested
 16:24:39 - Received request for a file: favicon.ico
 16:24:39 - Error sharing file, it is not part of the library.
16:25:17 - Error sharing file, no file requested
 16:25:54 - Error sharing file, no file requeste

i dont get it.

First - are you using Remote Server *or* Library Server? They do two different things.

The above messages look like Library Server to me, and they are how Library Server responds when being accessed by a normal web browser (the favicon part).
