How does it perform vs G-Force, is there much or any speed difference? How does it compare? The screen shots look pretty impressive...

I'm running Whitecap on dual core Athlons, with 256 meg graphic
cards and the processor usage change is not even noticable.
Not got G-force installed, so wouldn't know if it's much different.

Probably takes a fair chunk out of older systems

Thanks will probably take a look at the trial version. My system is a decent enough spec, but G-Force can struggle on occasion at 1920x1080. Was wondering if Whitecap was the same or noticeably different.

I'm only running at 1680x1050 which helps a fair bit I'd guess

I ran the trial of G-Force on the new HTPC I built, running at 1920x1080. I've running an Abit AN-M2HD motherboard (has an Nvidia Geforce7050PV/NF630a video chipset with onboard HDMI) and dedicated 256MB of the 2GB of system memory to video. CPU is an Athlon 64X2 5600+ and G-Force runs beautifully, once it starts. It's always sluggish to start, but once it kicks in, it's nice.

Whitecap looked great as well, although I think if I had to purchase just one of them, it would be G-Force.

I haven't been able to get their SoftSkies plugin to run at all. It always just tells me that my video card is inadequate or that I need to update my drivers.

I think G-Force on a big display looks really polished, though I've got to say it's quite distracting, and sometimes pretty hypnotic. It works well for the most part I get a bit of slowdown at times (and only at 1920x1080) but nothing I'm particularly bothered about.

I'd say it is a must-have for an HTPC, I'm interested to see what WhiteCap's like in comparison.

By the way, I get the exact same message.

A post I read on SoundSpectrum's site seems to indicate it may just be a problem with SoftSkies plugin for MC.

There is a problem with MC12 & SoftSkies. They had the same problem with WhiteCap but fixed it with the latest release.  I was told they would have a fix for SoftSkies in a couple of weeks.

I can confirm that it has been fixed with WhiteCap in the latest release as well.

I'm really impressed with the new WhiteCap.  Andy did a great job.  It has almost supplanted G-Force as my Visualization of choice.  I certainly give it "equal billing" now.

I have G-Force, SoftSkies, and WhiteCap.  My favorite is WhiteCap, but the variety is nice too.

I also have all three... Never got much into SoftSkies, but the other two I love.  Softskies I can see being nice in certain applications, but it's just not for me.

I guess I agree. I was using G-Force almost all the time before WhiteCap came out.  Now I mix it up.  I mostly use SoftSkies when a new release comes out - mostly to check for compatability - then I switch back.

BTW: I hope Andy releases a Holiday Theme for WhiteCap 5.
