Way to filter for incorrect track #'s?
« on: November 30, 2007, 02:00:05 am »

I have some songs in my collection from albums that the tracks are incorrectly listed 1 to, say, 12 in alphabetical order instead of how they are actually located on the album. Is there a way in Media Center to perhaps return a list of all albums that have these tracks in alphabetical order so I cna go in and manually fix them?

There would probably be a way to filter the incorrect track #'s.
But there is a really simple way also:

Klick on the track # header in MC library view to make it the first sorting rule:

Then all songs that has NO track number will be displayed first. Followed by the 1's and the 2's etc...
When ready, just click on your normal first sorting header (album, artist etc.)

Tracks with a blank track number are actually stored in the database as [track #]=0 so filtering is easy.  Simply make a new Smartlist, and search for that!

If you only want to do it once, of course, and you're going to fix them all in one sitting, then Higginz's way would work just as well.

I'm not looking to correct blank track numbers...

I'm looking to correct wrong track numbers.

For instance, I have an album that has 5 songs on it.

The actual order is

Track D
Track B
Track E
Track A
Track C

however, at some point when the tracks got numbered, tey got done alphabetically so it appears that Track A is track 1 when it is actually track 4.

Make more sense?

Ahhhhh... So you want some sort of search that checks to see if the current track order IS the Name field sorted Alphabetically?

Yeah... That might be possible, but it is WAY beyond my Expressions capabilities.  How many of these do you think you have?  You're most likely solution is going to be just elbow grease.  It's going to take a while but...

Select all track A and tag them track 1.  Select all track B and tag them track 2.  Lather, rinse, repeat.
