feature request: setting an external 'default' image editor
« on: November 29, 2007, 09:16:15 am »

Hi,
waiting for MC embedded image editor to have all features of Photoshop CS3 8)..., I think that it would be helpful if JR adds an option to set  which program to use, instead of the embedded editor, when one selects "right click" > "edit image".

I know I can set all external editors I want using SendTo>SendToExternal, but that's a long way...

Ciao,
Roberto

That would be a nice option to have until MC's image editor goes from "light" to "heavy".

Thumbs up.

Since you can define any application you want in the Send To --> External menu, I'm not sure why this would really be needed...

Right Click / Send to will get you there.  You can send an image to any external program.

It's just easier ... right-click>edit image.
If there are many images one would need to edit , it would make a difference.

Is' actually "Right Click / Send to / Send To External / [Program]"
instead of "Right Click / Edit Image"

I know it's not a big deal...

And next time you use it the command will be at the top of the list right?
If you have your Remember count to more than 0 that is.

yep, you're right.
but I still think that if for your image editing you *always* use a different program than the embedded editor, it would be better to access it via the "Right Click / Edit Image" way.

Another problem is there is no "Right Click / Send to / Send To External / [Program]" option
in the fullscreen mode context menu.
I then still have to close the Fullscreen view then right-click on the image, ... just another step.

Is it possible to at least add that command to the fullscreen context menu, if not an actual quick default editor command?

Thank

Yes there is. Right Click --> Send to (Playing Track)

It is NOT available in Playing Now or with Detached Displays, which is annoying, but it is there for full-screen Display View.

If you want to ask for something (since I really think they're unlikely to implement the parent posters request), let's ask for the Send to menu in Detached Displays and Playing Now!

Yip! Glynor, you're absolutely right. I don't know how I missed that Right Click --> Send to (Playing Track)

And I'd agree, it definitely needs to be there in Detached Displays and Playing Now too, especially as I use the detached display alot too.

Actually what I did notice was there is no "right-click>edit Image" in the fullscreen display.

I can at least see that (though I'd prefer it to be there too for consistency), because Display View is supposed to be a "full-screen exclusive" type display, and if it is "always on top" you wouldn't be able to see the Editor.  Still...
