HI YOU GUYS HELPED ME ABOUT A YEAR AGO WHEN VIEWING MEDIA WITH THE 3 BUTTONS ON TOP (IMAGE\AUDIO\VIDEO) TO CUSTOMIZE IT SO IT WOULD SHOW UP IN MY VIEW AS FOLDER LOCATION. BY RIGHT CLICKING CHOOSING LOCATION.

IS THERE AWAY TO DO THAT WITH MY PICTURE PLAYLISTS? I HAVE PICTURES GROUP WITH DIFFRENT NAMES UNDER IT EXAMLE FAMILY PICS, GRAPHIC WORK, FUNNY PICS ETC..  WHEN I CLICK ON GRAPHIC WORK. IS THERE A WAY TO VIEW IT LIKE I CAN WHEN IM VIEWING THEM WHEN I CLICK ON IMAGES MEDIA BUTTON?

IVE TRIED CLICKING ON PLAYLIST PICTURES. SHOWS THEM ALL, AND THERE ALL THUMBS BUT I WOULD LIKE TO SORT THEM SO WHEN I RIGHT CLICK CHOOSE GROUP I COULD SEEM AS LOCATION, BUT THERE IS NO OPTION IN  GROUP TO DO THATTHAT I CAN SEE, ALL GROUP OFFERS IS NONE, ALBUM, ALBUM BY DATE, RATING, CAMERA,AND YEAR... AND NONE OF THESE WORK FOR FOR THE WAY I HAVE MY FILES ON MACHINE. I PREFER TO LLOK AT THEM AS THEY ARE IN WINDOWS ORAS I VIEW THEM WHEN I CLICK ON IMAGES(LOCATION ROOT VIEW)
AM I EXPLAINING THIS PROPERLY?

You can customize any view scheme, including adding "Location" to it.

you will need to create the view scheme under Images, not audio. Just ask if you need more help.

marko, ok in my playlist i made a playist group called pics, have 6 playlists in it, i clicked on images add view scheme choose playlist group, PICTURES  then i hit ok. here is where im confussed so im back at view scheme, i see pictures on bottom it says ~sort=(date),(name)  would i delete that? then put in location (root) ?
 

see all my pics in windows my pictures are sorted, example my son there 8 folders in it 2002,2003, 20004, misc, kindergarten pics, pics at oma and opas, pics with mom etc...   but in my playist pictures all of the folder for my son are there, i'd like to have split up where the line goes across the scheme and says the folder name in the view. because my pictures cant be sorted by date, so for me sorting them in windows is best. and i also have a mental note where these pics are. so id like to be able to have them split up just like they are when i click on images where they are sorted by folder by\name year.

OK, I think I understand what you're after now, and as the file list grouping options are not user configurable the only way you'll get what you want is if JRiver add the "Group > Filename (path)" option to the program.

In trying to get you as close as possible, I think I may have come across a bug that is big enough to potentially make the option unworkable for you, so again, you'll need to wait for a response from Matt...

As close as you can get without a filename grouping option:
Edit your new playlist based image view scheme like so...
keep the playlist pane as the first pane, and add a second pane. Use the top-most "type" menu to set the pane as a "File Path" pane, and choose an optional base path to use. If you leave the base path field empty, the pane will use "Root" as the starting point.
OK to save you're changes.
Now, When you select a play list in the first pane, the location pane should update to reflect the locations represented in the play list selection. I chose a base path of D:\Pictures and thus far, this is working for me here.

The Big Bug:
After making a playlist selection, the location pane to the right of the playlist pane updates to show the paths of the selected playlist, but...
If I now double click an entry in the location pane to enter that directory, the play list pane frustratingly resets to "All" selected.
I've tried making the location the 1st pane and the playlist group pane the second pane and that doesn't help.
The filter in both directions setting has no bearing on this behaviour either.

Last roll of the dice on this one for now:

Another option open to you of course, is to ditch the "location" based pane altogether and just use a "filename (path)" field based pane, so, selecting a playlist in the first pane would show you all the paths that apply to the playlist, and selecting a path in the path pane would then show you the files from that playlist that were in that folder. This means that the pane would contain the entire folder path starting from the drive root, so possibly, this might not be so useful for you.

If you'd rather have the paths shown only from, say, for example, C:\Documents and Settings\xtacbyme\Documents\My Pictures\ onwards, this is possible to achieve using database expressions. If you want some help with that, you'll need to post some info about where you save your images to by default.

To help explain, in the picture below, the "image" pane is a playlist group I threw together, "parent (two deep)" is an expression based pane showing the two folders directly preceding the file, and "Filename (path)" is the standard MC database field.

marko thank you for the reply.. im going to read over this a fewtimes before i decide what to do here.. im a hands on type learner, hard for me to visualize what your saying here. Thank you very much for your advice and knowedge. its always appreciated.

p.s my root is D drive \pictures\ then the folders(son, graphics, funny, astrology, business, family, me) and in each of those are folders sorted out by year or genre(year for family friends me) genre for graphics business... (dragons, fairies, 1024 resolution, hdtv resolution, desktop pics, 3d visualization pics, etc..)
