Crash after long idle
« on: December 23, 2007, 12:01:47 am »

Pretty consistently if I leave MC12 open and don't watch anything for ~30 minutes or more the next time I try to play something it crashes. All of my media is on external drives. Any thoughts?

Please copy your system info from MC Help and post it here.

Disable any third party plug-ins, visualizations, etc.

Check this thread (from the FAQ here) for more.

MusicLobby?  Promixis?  Russound?

Last.fm plug-in?  Audioscrobbler?

GeForce?

You don't have much memory free.  What's running in the background?

Upgraded to 12.0.400. Still having the same problems. (Plus a couple new ones.)

JimH as far as I know last.fm is the only thing in that list that I even have, not that I have ever used it. Intel integrated graphics (945 gma).

As for memory I have no idea what I had open at the time I got the system info but media center can be the first thing I open and still have the problem. My startups are Eset NOD32 anti-virus, Outpost firewall, google desktop, and Stardock ObjectDock, I do not use icon packager. I highly doubt the error could be memory related as I can run out of memory and still go from one file to the next without trouble, it's only when I wait a long time.

I mentioned that my media is on external drives, I turned off 'easy removal' and my harddisks are never set to turn off in power management. I'm doubting external drives as the problem as well. Both are WD MyBooks, one USB connected the other is a worldbook running across my network.
