Media Center 12.0.393
« on: December 14, 2007, 01:50:37 pm »

This is the latest version of MC 12.0.  Any MC12.0 license will work with it.  Please post bugs here.  Please start a new thread for anything requiring discussion.  Non-bug posts will be deleted or moved.

This latest build (usually safe) of MC12.0 is here:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/MC12/MediaCenter120393.exe

12.0.393 (12/14/2007)

1. Changed: "Use Bitrate Monitor" option for DVD now defaults to FALSE (unchecked).
2. Fixed: Unassigned didn't do anything.

12.0.392 (12/13/2007)

Internal build.

12.0.391 (12/13/2007)

1. Fixed: When using Media Server, background tasks like the scheduler or library saves would not occur.
2. Changed: Improved how independplaybug945-extremeent searches per tab / split view work. (could be cases where one tab would use search from a different tab, etc.)
3. Fixed: After reordering columns, the list header "Columns" right-click menu would not insert new columns at the location of the right-click.
4. Fixed: In-place editing the panes would show too wide of an edit control.
5. Optimized: Digital TV channel scanning will have less chance of appearing to hang and will be faster for some devices.
6. Changed: "Automatically import files into Media Library" option reworded to "Automatically import files when played" for clarification.
7. Changed: Files located on handhelds will not be imported when played when the formentioned option is enabled.
8. Changed: Improved support for Archos devices.
9. NEW: "Copy graph info to clipboard" context menu option for DVD playback.
10. Changed: DVD option "Expand Image" is renamed "Crop Black Bars".
11. Changed: Reworked how view schemes are evaluated. (should be internal change, but please report any problems)

12.0.390 (12/11/2007)

1. NEW: Added right-click tree command "Compact Database" to iPod. (pools all similar artwork, rewrites artwork file in one swoop to minimize fragmentation, etc.)
2. Changed: During upload to an iPod, duplicate images are stored more efficiently.
3. Fixed: During file conversion, if an encoder hung, it could leave Media Center hung.
4. Fixed: CD operations could fail or show a message about failing to get the volume ID. (only affects build 389)
5. Changed: Some tweaks in digital TV recording.
6. Fixed: Media Editor could crash on exit.
7. Updated: Start page.
8. Fixed: Smartlist rules with empty values [] were getting dropped.

12.0.389 (12/10/2007)

1. NEW: "Copy graph info to clipboard" menu option for DX video player. (DVD and TV to follow).
2. Fixed: Deleting a podcast during a download could result in a crash.
3. Fixed: Right-clicking on a playlist in the tree and sending it to a device was transferring the files but not the playlist information.
4. Fixed: Artwork was getting fragmented on iPods causing delays when cover art was loading.
5. NEW: Installer copies launcher to both 32-bit and 64-bit system folder so applications running in either mode can find it.
6. Changed: Reworked how in-place editing is handled in the lists and tree. (hopefully internal change, but please report any strangeness)
7. Changed: Slow double-click can be used in the tree to rename an item with no children.
8. NEW: An option on DirectShow filter selection dialog window to skip testing DirectShow playability before actually trying to play in DirectShow, of selected media types.

1)- I think there is still something bork'ed with Tabs, when I switch tabs I get no files showing as if the search parameters from the last tab are still in effect.
Changing to a different branch of the tree and back does not resolve this as it had in the past. Closing MC and restarting does not help either.

2)- Going to the Tab for my Album Artist (Grouped) / Album Artist / Album view scheme, files display properly when I am on "ALL" in the AA Grouped column, but if I click on any letter No Files are displayed.

3)- I also was editing some tags in the file list window, and when I'd edit one column (Album Artist) the changed data wound up in a different column (the Album column) multiple times now.

*** Stepping back to 12.0.388 fixed this number 2 and 3 above.

Number 1 aboive appears tied to the Album Artist (Grouped) column

Ok still having issues with podcast artwork.  The podcasts folder is set to a URI : \\hellcat\podcast

The podcast are saved correctly to the share drive however the podcast artwork ends up under my c: drive root.

Here is the filename of one of the podcast artwork files "http___www.podtrac.com_pts_redirect.m4v_bitcast-a.bitgravity.com_revision3_web_tekzilla_0012_Folder.jpg"

I tried this on my mp4 file playback issues. It skips the message about QT not being installed but then it hangs up just as before despite ffdshow filters being configured correcty.

I stick to renaming filetype from mp4 to mp2 as a workaround. Works great

Keep posting your results in your original thread.  We'll see what we can do.

Report what kind of drive they are on.  Local, network, USB, etc.

In .393, is view grouping broken?
« Reply #7 on: December 15, 2007, 04:28:32 pm »

I just moved from .388 to .393, and suddenly my Artist view, which uses groups, is broken.

The 2 View Items are
   Artist (grouping size 1)
   Artist

This of course creates a top level Artist view with a second level A-Z list, grouping all the records by the first letter of whatever is in each Artist field (plus a few digits), then within each letter is a list of groups by artist name. (I like this format to manage my library of 50K+ tracks because my Artist field is Lastname, Firstname. I put the real artist name in the Album Artist field.)

I've never had trouble with this view, until .393. Now, at the top level, Artists, I see everything in the database, and below I see the alphabetic groups A-Z. But when I go into any of these groups, there is nothing there. What I should see is a second list of groups, one for each artist name that begins with the parent group's letter. Within each artist name group I should see all the tracks by that artist. But it's simply EMPTY.

I've tried refreshing, reediting/saving the view design, but nothing helps.

I have a similar view Albums, with Album field Grouping Size 1, and all the groups in this view are empty too.

I switched back to 12.0.388 and the problem went away. Both views again work as they used to.
