random playlist idea
« on: February 04, 2008, 09:33:14 am »

Hello, once I used amarok, there was helpful tool that took randomly 20 track's from my library and put it to "playing now". Maybe it could be done with MJ? what you think?

You can create a smartlist with the only rule being to limit it to 20 tracks. Then just right click on that smartlist and either Play it or Add it to Playing Now.

Yeah, that's easy.

Does MJ12 have the smartlist wizard? Right click on the Playlists tree and select New Smartlist. Does the smartlist wizard open up? If so, it should be pretty easy to build what you want. If not, just use this code to build the smartlist you want:

[Media Type]=[Audio] [Genre]=[Rock] ~n=20

And just subsitute Rock with whatever genre you want.

Even if you do have the smartlist wizard available, you can click the Import / Export button and then paste in the above code.

Yeah! it is work :) many thanks. Now one more question off topic. Maybe it is silly but I can't turn off repeating playlist, always back to the first track. How I can change this?

On the right hand side of the progress bar, there are three buttons. The first controls Repeat. The second and third are shuffle and EQ).
