I'm learning more features of MC from other users who are recommending it. Since I'm still a newb, there are some questions that some interested people have that I can't fully answer. I think I've got a couple of converts at least from the PMs I'm getting. It'd be very useful if some of you with AVSForum accounts could help the people with questions. I think it would be easier than for them to create an account here, without actually trying MC.

Well I tried but my connection timed out before I clicked post. I lost all of my verbose dialoge. ...if I muster up the courage again I'll make another post.

Sorry to hear that. I don't trust forums sometimes, as what happened to you has occured with me too often. I usually select everything I've written, copy it to the clipboard, and then post it (or attempt to), if I've written a lot.

It's the least I could do. I think it was a similar thread in which you mentioned MC, then PM'ed me some info and here I am now. I'm also pimping MC on a Canadian site, starting at post 10. I think I monopolised much of the thread after that.

Hmm... I think we need a referral system to earn us evangelists a $1 discount off MC13 for every convert. :)

I always thought that was the worst thing about MC: No one knowing about it!

I'm surprised after almost 4 years of using it, that still it is an 'underground' media app.

I have never seen it being mentioned before either on the avs forum. The first time I took notice was a post by listener on the slimdevices forum. I downloaded the demo and was not that impressed with theaterview. But I remembered the flexibility of mc from that first encounter.. So recently, when I wanted to organize my media better I took another look and was now very impressed by the enhanced theater view, very functional and slick. I really like the close integration between a desktop view and a theater view that it gives me.

I now use MC on our pc's, tv's and the Nokia internet tablet. Not yet in our theater room as I need to be able to move the picture up/down because of the masking as I mentioned in another thread. That is a shame as it is by far the best theater gui I have seen so far. When it gets more mentioned on AVS I really can see it becoming a popular alternative for zp en theatertek.

If you do a search, you'll find it.  It appears as part of other threads like this very long one:

Zoner/Hyslopc's Multi-zone with Russound CAV6.6 in-wall keypads

I have a limited ability to post over there, so it's extremely helpful when you do.

Thanks,

Jim

I'll see what I can do :) I am a newbie myself though, but I share a lot of the background in home theater setups with the folks there. What is essential different about mc compared to most of the current theater solutions is the powerful en extendable database backbone of mc that in a very flexible way can be used to generate all kinds of view schemes. This combined with most people will agree a very good theater gui to display them makes it very attractive for this purpose.
