Volume changes "automatically"
« on: August 10, 2002, 05:08:19 am »

Hi!

Sitting as usual listening to music with MJ8.
Sometimes (probably when a track is too loud) MJ alters the volume level, always to a lower level, not to raise it again when a less loud track plays. If one then stop playing and play again, the volume is restored to normal level.

I suppose it has to do with the DSP setting "Clip protection", but I'm not sure.

How can this be avoided? Or is it a bug that MJ doesn't raise the level again?

Cheers and as always thanks for a wonderful product!
/Martin

this is common with cd-roms and how they were produced.

if your using mp3s however you might try the replay gain option.

also when you rip you can use normalization.

information about both are in the help file.

Thanks for the reply KS, but that doesn't help me much. Sorry for not revealing more info, but here I go:
- The songs are in mp3 format.
- They are all RG'd already, so they should be the same volume level...it's only the latest added that aren't RG'd. Perhaps it's those files that mucks it up, but still....
