Can anyone help?  I make my playlist, send it to burn, all is well until about 40% through the burn then get the above device error.  I'm using MC on a PC with Office XP - I have not upgraded to Vista.

In Tools/Options/Burning, please try dropping the burn speed to about 8X. If you're doing an audio mode burn, uncheck the option "decode files directly do disk".
If you have a different brand of blank CD media, try that.

If you want to avoid ruining a disk during testing, check the "test mode" box. It will do everything except turn on the laser so you can try different settings.

I'd like to get a log file from you, but first I'm hoping we can get a good burn completed.

Have you got a good burned CD then? If you haven't already, uncheck the "test mode" option and do a burn with the settings that worked in test mode.

When you get the time, please try burning (in test mode) with the default settings that cause it to fail, then send a zip file of the entire log to johnt at jriver.com.
