FLV direct show options
« on: January 18, 2008, 11:28:08 am »

EDIT: Just found wiki entry on this, will read and see if it helps me, then come back...
EDIT 2: Nope. The link to that other splitter thingy is broken.. If that indeed is the problem, time changes things.. (especially, I reckon, they've developed the CCCP since, e.g. it says FL4 in the settings page).

Hi,

I am having problems playing flv-files. At first, it seemed MC didn't handle them at all.

I thought it should handle them, but anyway, I installed the community codec pack that I've seen recommended here. Now MC generates thumbnails, but won't play the files: "direscthow: undefined error, code=0x80004005" it says.

I have looked at some old threads on flv, but I haven't found anything that directly helped me.

I've been messing around in the flv direct show settings, but can't get it to work. Right now I have flv source and flv splitter, flv video decoder selected... Sounded like the logical ones (and j river monitor filter, I guess that's a standard thing).

Vista and MC 410.

Was this what you read?

http://wiki.jrmediacenter.com/index.php/DirectShow_Playback_Guide#FLV

The instructions there should get you going. MC is supposed to take care of it automatically, but there is a bug that we still need to fix. This bug affects users on Vista only.

Until we fix the bug, you can follow the instructions linked above to get you going with FLV playback.

To summerize:

1. Install CCCP, but make sure you do not check "FLV" during installation.
2. Install FLVSplitter linked in the above guide.
3. Configure FFDShow video decoder so it will handle FLV1 videos.

Right now CCCP does handle FLV. But I'll just wait for you to fix it ;). It was just the one file, converted it to avi for now...

Also, the link to that alternate splitter on the wiki page is broken, as I said... Otherwise I probably would have tried it out.

Yeah... The mirror went down.  His site is hard to direct-link to.  I'll fix it in the wiki.

I am having problems with YouTube playback in Theaterview, the screen boes blank at the end or if I try to back out out of full screen mode, sometimes.

I tried getting the latest flv codec, but the link in the wiki is broken again.  Do I still need that specifc one, or will CCCP do?

Thanks
