Back & Forward Track buttons don't work - tracks keep repeating
« on: February 04, 2008, 02:34:23 pm »

My copy of jRiverMC 12 won't let me use the back and forward track buttons properly.  If I press the back button, it just starts the track over from the beginning.  If I press the forward track button, it just starts the track over from the beginning.  I can't use a program that won't let me play more than one track over and over again unless I double-click for a new one!  Everything else is awesome.  Please help me fix this bug.

Thank you!

It isn't a bug.  Do you have more than one track in Playing Now?

What kind of tracks are you playing?

Well, if I have the "Audio" option selected, which shows my entire library, and I double-click on a track to play, it will do this.  It didn't do this in jRMC 11.  So I don't understand why it's happening now.  I don't want to have to send the entire screen I'm looking at to the "playing now" every single time in order to make it play the next track.  (Not that I've ever succeeded in getting it to play the next track.)

I understand what you're saying, Erin. I find that once you're in a playlist, it's intuitive to expect the software to keep playing other tracks after the first one. However, some people would not want this, and it's impossible for MC to read our minds! Have you tried selecting "Play All" instead of "Play" when you choose your first track? I'm currently trying to figure out which of the many selections available would allow me to play all the tracks randomly.

Try this:

Go to Tools->Options->General->Behavior

Change the Double-click option to Replace Playing Now (all)

I'm guessing that right now it's set to Replace Playing Now (single)

Try double clicking on the navigiation tree node, rather than on an individual file. This will add everything visible in the scheme or view you've selected.

(Doof beat me by seconds, this way give you the option to not change a setting, so its up to what you prefer)

The player should default to "Replace Playing Now (all)" which will play the track you double-click on and all surrounding tracks.

You can always view Playing Now to see exactly what is queued.

Ah hah!  It worked!

Thanks so much to everyone who replied.  This was making me crazy; I think I understand now the relationship between the screen I'm viewing and the "playing now" - which I didn't before.
