I've spent the last week almost playing in Photoshop and Corel again.
and I've lost sight of where i'm going!

I want to make Intention a bit more modern looking. The trouble lies that the old
design doesn't make that easy. Everythings very close together, and using new
techniques with the shapes that are there is proving beyond my skills...

So I thought I'd try a different route, refreshing it a bit, and trying to use textures
to give it a modern look... but I'm not sure if I'm making it worse or not :-)

This isn't the finished product I know the buttons are to far down for a start,

I think the trouble with this design is it's a bit to loud. On smaller screens it may
look a bit cramped, but on the other hand all new computers seem to come with 22"> widescreens
now anyhow.

ChriZ,

Looks great, definitely an improvement and it's great to hear you're looking to improve it. First glance, the new scrollbars, frames and textures look really nice. The tree background looks lovely too - though perhaps a little too audio-centric?

I like the new direction. The texture effect is nice. Making the Track Display Window more distinct works well. The top bar already feels simpler and more ergonomic.
Here are some random thoughts:

Continue simplifying the interface, so that the various parts are more defined, for a cleaner look.
New color scheme?
Pick elements to revise, such as ratings stars, AW header bar.
Flatten elements that are currently beveled, such as scroll bars, selection overlays.
Experiment with new mouseover effects for buttons.

I love the tree background! But I'm not fond of that mix of blue and red buttons: I thinks it lack uniformity.

That's really cool. I'd take it just like it is in that screenshot. I really like what you've done with the texture and the tree background.

I put up with the new header bar for about a week, came to the conclusion I hated
it, and tore it apart again

I've got something I'm much happier with now. It's a real buzz creating these
things and always extending your skills, and then looking back and thinking I done that!

Earlier in the week I found a feature in Adobe called Warp that allows you to bend things,
something that's very easy to do in Corel with it's vector stuff but very time consuming
when moving stuff between the two.

I'd really recommend anyone to have a go at it.
Especially any real Graphics Designers out there, could probably put something together
in a tenth of the time that I take :-)

Just curious how this skin was coming along. I love it and I really love the look you are heading to. I'm a DJ and many times I will usually just use Media Center for my cocktail and dinner music. I have had quite a few clients compliment the look and say how cool it looks. Just sending you a great big (Fantastic Job) and looking forward to you update.

Plodding along, It takes me a long time to make each graphic sometimes over a day of playing!
I'm not going to give any time scales as I never meet them!

In all honesty I wish the main player buttons were not red, and instead looked more like that bluish purplish color like on the 'Audio' highlight image in the tree.

It looks amazing however.

Next time I do a release, remind me and I'll do some blue buttons.
I'm kinda fond of the red though, so not changing it for the time being.
I've played with setting them blue and it's not done anything for me.
