Background noise in streaming audio
« on: February 18, 2008, 08:07:53 pm »

Hi All,

I've searched the forums quite a bit, but cannot find a problem similar to this.

I'm experiencing background noise when listening to streaming audio stations.  Regardless of the station or bitrate selected, there is a constant, soft, background clicking/blipping bursting that reminds me of a sort of compression echo.  The noise is entirely an artifact of something since it doesn't seem to distort the audio itself, however, it will sometimes start "skipping" like an LP.  I suspected my network connection or maybe a firewall or NAT issue, but I'm on a 15M fiber connection and all firewalls are disabled and I don't have any specific NAT configured (should I??).

Any suggestions would be truly appreciated!!

In my signature, there is a link to a "Weird Problems" thread.  Try that one for ideas.
