confusing import folder filetype options.
« on: February 05, 2008, 06:53:47 am »

Yesterday, I was adding a folder to the watched folder list, and noticed there appears to be a lot of redundancy in the list...

Note the multiple entries for ape files and mp3 files?
Also note that those truncated, unreadable items have no tooltips, and as the window is not resizeable, there's no way to read the missing stuff!!

Why is that?
And is it possibly related to recent complaints that auto import is missing files for some people?

Weird... I don't have that. On mine, Monkey's Audio and MPEG Audio only use one line each.

I also don't see the problem you see.

dont know if it is of any help, but i just looked at the differences between the two machines. the one with the double filetypes was still on 426. upgrading and restarting the machine did not help though.

Mine is OK as well. Could these be registry settings that are messed up?

Maybe, but the developers should give us step-by-step instructions for fixing this. Unlike the developers, I have no idea what mechanism is used for gathering the file type list.

I don't think we can give you instructions to fix it.  But it may have come from the old Musicex Manager.  I just searched for "mpegplus" and found an entry in the Music Exchange section of the registry.

It may be related to importing the jmx filetype.

An uninstall, removing the registry _might_ take care of it.

I think there's something messy here in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JRiver\Media Center 12\Plugins\Input

The key names should be things like "APE" and "OGG".  I'm guessing you have some like "Monkey's Audio ...", but I don't know why.

Thanks, I already went through the registry and found those ghost entries in ...Plugins\Input

Here's what I had there:

I deleted the complete "Input" branch and also all listed input plugins from
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JRiver\Media Center 12\Plugins\Uninstall

After that I reinstalled MC12 and now the problem seems to be cured.

I wonder where the excess entries came from. Could some development build have added them? Though, I cleaned the JRiver part of the registry completely in last October or November because of some other problems. The registry entries could not have been very old.

I'm guessing a previous (hopefully development only) build goofed up.  Sorry.

If it's not happening anymore, it may not be worth chasing.
