Ipod detection bug in 12.0.432
« on: February 11, 2008, 03:35:55 am »

After upgrading MC no longer detects my ipod.
I had no problem with earlier versions and downgrading solved the problem.

I have an Ipod video 5.5 with latest firmware installed.

Try "Redetect Devices" in the Handhelds section of MC options.

Try "Redetect Devices" in the Handhelds section of MC options.

I have tried that but that didn't work.
Ipod is detected fine in windows explorer and by older MC versions.

I have just tried reinstalling latest build, but no luck.
Going back to .022 solved the problem again.
This definetly looks like a bug.

We can't reproduce this. The next time you try the newer build please turn on logging (in the help menu) of Handheld events, close MC, restart MC, give MC time to look for devices and then send me the logs (rick at jriver dot com).

Update: The problem was caused by the presence of a 'DCIM' folder at the root of the iPod. Bacause of this, MC was mistaking the iPod for a camera. In the future we will overlook this folder if the device is later determined to be an iPod.

Fixed in build 12.0.434.

Hi SwellGuy

I am afraid you have re-introduced this bug in 12.0.441. I just upgraded to 12.0.441, found that my ipod video 80Gb wasn't recognised anymore, found this post, then tried to redetect, no change. I renamed the DCIM folder on my ipod to 'hello', did redetect, and viola my ipod appeared again under the devices.

Mhhh
